TutorDevOps began in 2020 helping university students learn to code. Today we design and build software for government, enterprise and ambitious brands across South Africa and beyond.

Debugging code, fixing environments and explaining hard ideas to students, one session at a time.

Chapter one

We started as tutors

TutorDevOps began as a student-run tutoring business, helping university students get through programming and IT. Calvin, our CEO, was already leading a team of lab technicians at the University of Pretoria, helping students debug code and fix their development setups.

Explaining hard ideas simply is still how we work with clients today.

Chapter two

We built our own platform

To reach more students, we built our own e-learning platform for online courses, with course pages, instructors, reviews and a blog. It was our first full product, and it taught us how to design, build and run one.

Chapter three

We became a studio

Businesses started asking us to build for them. We went from tutoring to shipping enterprise SaaS, high-traffic gaming platforms and online stores, and in 2024 we moved into software and mobile app development full time.

We build for industry

Our work runs in government, enterprise, gaming, luxury, retail, hospitality and sport. Alongside client work we build our own products, BLC and CDHQ, which keeps us honest about what it takes to run software people rely on every day.
